CNAME is not an HTTP redirect

A CNAME changes how DNS resolves a hostname; it does not change the URL in a browser. To move visitors from one URL to another, configure an HTTP redirect on a web server, CDN or edge service.

Apex and record-conflict rules

A standard CNAME cannot usually coexist with other records at the same hostname. This is why providers may offer ALIAS or ANAME-like features for a zone apex; those are provider features, not a universal DNS record type.
